The Platte County Courthouse and Administrative offices are located at 3rd & Main in downtown Platte City. The courthouse, built in 1867, is where Blanche Barrow (part of the infamous Bonnie & Clyde gang) was tried and convicted, and it is on the National Register of Historic Places. The Veteran’s Memorial, located on the southwest corner of the courthouse lawn, honors all Platte County citizens, living and dead, who have served in the armed forces. The Prairie Creek Greenway, located on N Highway, is one of the county’s most beautiful trail systems covering 120 acres and offering 3.8 miles of paved trails. Every summer Platte City hosts the Platte County Fair which is entering its 150th year and is the oldest continuously running county fair west of the Mississippi.
