Jennifer Goering

“I definitely enjoy promoting Platte County to event organizers and visitors as there is so much to see and do. Platte County represents the best of both worlds – contemporary and vintage! Visitors can be out in the country seemingly miles away from the hustle & bustle of the city – and within less than 15 minutes can be perusing shops featuring the latest trends & fashions. Convenience, affordability and accessibility make Platte County the perfect destination for event planners, tournament organizers and visitors.”

As the Executive Director, Jennifer Goering is responsible for overseeing all functions of the CVB Office – specifically focusing on marketing, advertising and public relations. She always tells incoming groups that her job is to make their job easier and is their go-to person before, during and after their event.

Jennifer particularly enjoys developing long lasting relationships with incoming group organizers and area organizations. When working together and communicating, problems get resolved and success multiplies.

Jennifer has lived in Platte City since 1995 and previously worked in the Platte County R-3 School District prior to joining the CVB in 2005. Her educational background includes both a Master of Science degree in Journalism and a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations from the University of Kansas.

Penny Perkins

Penny Perkins joined the Visitors Bureau in 2006 and serves as Bureau Manager. She loves greeting our guests and helping them to find fun and interesting things to see and do in Platte County. Customer service driven, her background includes co-owning and operating Perkins & Wolff Gift Baskets for six years, and prior to that, 19 years as a Senior Account Executive with Motorola. After living in several different areas of the country including Washington D.C., suburban New York City, Charlotte, NC, and her hometown of Chicago, she says that Platte County is where she intends to stay because “It doesn’t get any better than this!”

Penny also oversees the bureau’s “Trailblazer” volunteers who help with county functions and provide such visitor amenities as “Welcome Bags” and event staffing. If you’re interested in volunteering for the Visitors Bureau, please contact Penny – she’s always eager to bring new Trailblazers “on board”.
